On the second day of the Mental Health Workshop ‘Trauma,Relationship, Sexuality’ for the Indonesian Community, Justin Chu from StickyRice Love reviewed different types of behaviors that can be classified as formsof emotional abuse in relationships (not just boyfriend/girlfriendrelationships, but also with friends and family).

For example:

- using abusive or demeaning words

- being extremely jealous and possessive

- always having to "win" arguments

- silent or unwilling to touch as a form of"punishment"

- unpredictable (constantly changing moods)

- ignorant of feelings, etc.

Some forms of emotional manipulation such as gaslighting(manipulating someone so that they doubt their own opinions) and guilt-tripping(making someone feel guilty so that they are willing to do the manipulator'swill) also often characterize toxic relationships. The session became more meaningful when Justin invited allparticipants to do a brief reflection on their personal relationshipexperiences, and enter the results of their reflections. Participants were then invited by Justin to recognize thestages of non-violent communication (NVC) and to determine the love languagethat feels most suitable.
